TZ-1 Spheroidized Insulation Covering Agent Applicable to gray cast iron, ductile cast iron, and malleable cast iron, appearing as gray-brown granular particles, non-toxic and odorless, without harmful components.
Highland’s TZ-1 Spheroidized Insulation Covering Agent stands out with its unique spheroidized structure—these spherical aggregates stack densely to block heat transfer paths, reducing molten metal temperature drop by 80-100℃ per hour and cutting casting shrinkage defects (like microcracks) by 40-60%; it adapts to sand casting, investment casting, and other processes, requiring only even spreading without complex operations; it also contains no toxic components, producing minimal dust and complying with global environmental regulations. These strengths make TZ-1 Spheroidized Insulation Covering Agent a reliable choice for consistent casting quality.
1. Use on granulating agent: After placing the granulating agent, silicon iron, etc. into the bag and leveling it, evenly cover the surface with this product, then pour the molten iron for granulation. The specific usage can be adjusted according to the amount of granulating agent and the size of the bag opening area, generally, the reference ratio is about 1:0.07-0.15 for the granulating agent to this product.
2. Use on the molten iron liquid surface: After filling the molten iron, first remove the floating slag, then evenly cover the molten iron surface with this product for casting. The usage amount is between 0.1%-0.3% of the weight of the molten iron.
1. Good insulation performance, strong slag accumulation, non-stick to the bag wall, and high melting point.
2. Can be directly applied over the granulating agent. Its excellent insulation covering effect makes the granulation process smoother, delays the explosion time (8-15 seconds), effectively improves the granulation agent utilization rate, and reduces costs.
3. After removing the slag at the end of granulation, covering the molten iron surface with this product provides excellent insulation and radiation resistance, effectively slows down granulation decay, improves molten iron utilization rate, absorbs residual slag in the molten iron, reduces molten iron slag content, and improves process yield.
Widely used for insulation layers of various front ladles, transfer ladles, and casting ladles, non-working lining insulation layers of various hot working furnaces, particularly suitable for complex shapes, limited positions, and overall, airtight, high-strength furnace linings and local sections.

Highland Refractory classifies TZ-1 Spheroidized Insulation Covering Agent based on insulation performance and applicable metal types to meet diverse casting needs, including Standard TZ-1 Spheroidized Insulation Covering Agent (ideal for carbon steel castings, maintaining heat for 25-40 minutes), High-Temp TZ-1 Spheroidized Insulation Covering Agent (suitable for high-alloy steel castings, withstanding 1600℃+ and retaining heat for 45-60 minutes), and Non-Ferrous TZ-1 Spheroidized Insulation Covering Agent (modified for aluminum/zinc alloy castings, matching lower melting points). Each variant uses spheroidized insulation aggregates (e.g., hollow ceramic beads) and stable binders, forming a uniform, airtight layer on molten metal surfaces to slow heat loss.
TZ-1 Spheroidized Insulation Covering Agent is mainly used in the foundry industry for various metal castings: in carbon steel casting (e.g., automotive axle shafts, pipe fittings), it maintains riser temperature for shrinkage compensation; in high-alloy steel casting (e.g., stainless steel valves, heat-resistant parts), its high-temperature resistance prevents rapid cooling of molten metal; in non-ferrous casting (e.g., aluminum alloy automotive wheels, zinc alloy hardware), the modified variant matches low melting points to avoid overheating damage. It also supports small-batch precision casting (e.g., aerospace components), where its uniform insulation ensures consistent casting dimensions.
TZ-1 Spheroidized Insulation Covering Agent (Highland) excels in passive thermal insulation via its spheroidized aggregate structure, focusing on slowing heat loss to ensure stable molten metal solidification—its strength lies in adapting to diverse metals (carbon steel, alloys, non-ferrous) and casting processes, making it versatile for general insulation needs. TZ-M1 Riser Exothermic Covering Agent, by contrast, specializes in active heat release to maintain riser temperature, prioritizing shrinkage compensation for large/thick-walled castings where active heat supply is critical. Each serves distinct roles: TZ-1 Spheroidized Insulation Covering Agent dominates passive insulation for varied scenarios, while TZ-M1 leads in active exothermic compensation for heavy castings.
